Kazakh Olympic Gold

Kazakh team surprised everyone in the past London Olympics. Kazakhstan got 7 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals.


 Bicycle racer  Aleksandr Vinokurov and weightlifter Zulfia Chinshallo brought the first gold to our team. The third gold was brought by weightlifter Maya Maneza during the first Olympic days.
On the 3-rd of August during the 7-th Olympics day Kazakh weightlifter, two-time world champion, world record-breaker Svetlana Podobedova (75 kg) tied with a total 291 kg on bodyweight. Not only did she win fourth Olympic gold for Kazakhstan, but she also broke the Olympic record in clean and jerk.

On the 7-th day of the London Olympics Kazakh weightlifter Ilya Ilyin became a two-time Olympic champion and a world record-breaker. Ilya Ilyin lifted 185 kg in snatch and smashing the World Record  he lifted 233 kg in clean and jerk. Having a total 418 kg (which is also a world record) Kazakh sportsman splendidly won his two-time Olympic champion title! 

On the 6-th of August athlete Olga Rypakova won a gold Olympic medal in Triple Jump.
First bronze for Kazakhstan brought Danial Gadzhiev in Men’s 84-kg Greco-Roman wrestling. Danial beat two world champions, Bulgarian Hristo Marinov and later he thrashed Alim Selimov, world champion-2011 from Belarus. After that, in a final fight for bronze during additional 2 minutes he defeated Vladimir Gegeshidze from Georgia. This medal was brought by a 26-year-old Danial Gadzhiev in his first Olympic games.


The second bronze for Kazakhstan was claimed by a boxer Marina Volnova, who beat British World Champion Savanna Marshall but in the semi-final she lost to Claressa Shields from USA.
On the 9-th of August 72-kg freestyle wrestler Guzel Manyurova beat Jiao Wang from China.
91-kg boxer Ivan Dychko brought the fourth bronze medal on the 14-th day of the Olympics. Even though he lost 2 points to British boxer Anthony Joshua, he had a decent bout.
Another bronze in freestyle wrestling was won by Akzhurek Tanatarov.
On the last day of the Olympic Games Kazakh Team finally got the silver medal, which was brought by boxer Adilbek Niyazymbetov in a stubborn bout.
Kazakh boxer Serik Sapiyev brought the seventh gold to our country.
