Eye of the Sahara

One of the most incredible geological miracles is in the Sahara desert, Mauritania. It is known as the Richat Structure and the Eye of the Sahara.

In the middle of the desert a bull eye like formation can be seen. Its diameter is 50 km. Space crews use the Richat Structure as a guide mark.

Originally, it was assumed that the Eye of the Sahara was a result of meteor fall, but nowadays, scientists presume that the geological miracle formed by Earth uplift and erosion.
