Stone monuments in Ulitau Mountains

Ulytau Mountains - a unique archaeological reserve in Kazakhstan. Here, a relatively small area, there is a huge amount of historical and cultural monuments VI - VIII centuries.

Archeologists have discovered a group of stone sculptures and carvings with pictures swords, daggers, dishes and much more.

Particularly unique are the stone sculptures - balbals, which were put before the statues of stone warriors, generals put a string of balbal’s. Sometimes their number is 200

Along with male and female statues were installed. Depending on the age of the person they are called "girl rock", "Stone Woman," "old-stone." That is why there is another, Slavic name balbals - stone images.

Under state protection, Ulytau sites today give scientists valuable information, telling the story of the spiritual culture of the tribes inhabiting the territory of Kazakhstan.
